Who’s that girl?

SPOILER ALERT: Didi is not my real name

Hey you! It’s Didi here, or actually, Diletta. I was born in Italy in a multicultural family: my mum is Italian and my dad is Dutch. I grew up in a small city called Ventimiglia, in Italy, but two years ago I moved to Delft (also a small city), in the Netherlands, to study architecture. Currently studying in Melbourne.

Me in Tikal, Guatemala 2018

I started travelling since a very young age, my dad traveled a lot and he would bring me with him everywhere he would go, but as soon as I grew up I started travelling with my friends. I love learning about the traditions, food and culture of the places I travel to. I genuinely think that travelling abroad is a way to grow and discover hidden parts of ourselves, as Pico Iyer says in one of his articles: “Abroad is the place where we stay up late, follow impulse and find ourselves as wide open as when we are in love“. Also, people are so important to me, wherever I go I try to meet with locals to get a better understanding of their costumes and way of living. Maybe it’s my Italian part writing but you should know one thing about me: food and history are the two pillars of who I am.

I decided to start writing this travel blog because I would love to share my experiences and discoveries with you in order to enrich you travel journeys. In my voyage I will bring you to Lebanon and discover its traditional costumes, art, traditions, fabulous cuisine, however I will always keep an eye on history, which as I said, is part of who I am.

I hope you will enjoy my voyages.
